...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY MORNING THROUGH TUESDAY EVENING... * WHAT...Dangerous rip currents expected. * WHERE...South Carolina Beaches, and Georgia Beaches. * WHEN...From Tuesday morning through Tuesday evening. * IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...High surf with breaking waves of 4 to 6 feet along the lower South Carolina coast and 5 to 7 feet along the Georgia coast will occur. The combination of strong northeast winds, elevated tides and large breaking waves will increase the risk for significant beach erosion. A High Surf Advisory may be issued for Tuesday and Tuesday night. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help. &&

For the Gale Watch, northeast winds 20 to 30 kt with gusts up to 35 kt and seas 7 to 10 ft possible. * WHERE...All Southeast Georgia coastal waters from Altamaha Sound GA to Fernandina Beach FL out to 60 NM. * WHEN...For the Small Craft Advisory, from 2 AM to 5 PM EDT Tuesday. For the Gale Watch, from Tuesday afternoon through late Wednesday night. * IMPACTS...Strong winds can cause hazardous seas which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility.
