...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 815 PM EDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Portions of east central Georgia, including the following counties, Columbia and Richmond and central South Carolina, including the following counties, Aiken and Edgefield. * WHEN...Until 815 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 617 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... North Augusta, Evans, Augusta, Belvedere, Martinez, Clearwater, Augusta National Golf Club, Summerville, Midtown, Glendale, Daniel Field, Augusta Mall, Village Plaza Shopping Center, Burnettown, West End Augusta, Kroc Center, Harrisburg, Westover Memorial Park, Eisenhower Park and Medical District Augusta. - This includes the following highways... Interstate 520 in South Carolina between mile markers 16 and 20. Interstate 20 in South Carolina between mile markers 0 and 2. Interstate 20 in Georgia between mile markers 194 and 201. ...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 8 PM EDT MONDAY... * WHAT...Heat index values up to 109 expected. * WHERE...Portions of east central Georgia and central South Carolina. * WHEN...From noon to 8 PM EDT Monday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1. &&
