The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe
limits, and no longer poses an immediate threat to life or property.
Therefore, the warning will be allowed to expire.  However, gusty
winds and heavy rain are still possible with this thunderstorm.

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 108.

* WHERE...Portions of central, east central, north central,
northeast, northwest, and west central Georgia.

* WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.

northeastern Douglas and southwestern Fulton Counties through 245 PM
EDT...

At 218 PM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was over Six Flags Over Georgia,
or near Atlanta. This storm was nearly stationary.

HAZARD...40 to 50 mph wind, pea sized hail and frequent cloud to
ground lightning.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect minor damage to tree limbs and blowing around of
light, unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include...
Atlanta, Douglasville, City of South Fulton, Smyrna, East Point,
Austell, Lithia Springs, Sweetwater Creek State Park, Six Flags Over
Georgia, Campbellton, Sandtown, and Mableton.
