A Marine Weather Statement has been issued for the following areas... Coastal waters from Altamaha Sound to Fernandina Beach FL out 20 NM... At 310 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated an area of showers and a thunderstorm, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots. This thunderstorm was located near St Simons Island Village, or near St. Simons Island, moving east at 15 knots. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 25 to 30 knots, locally higher waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this storm passes. Waterspouts are possible with this activity. If a waterspout occurs, move your boat away from it. Waterspouts can develop rapidly and produce winds and seas that are dangerous for vessels and everyone onboard. &&
