...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 330 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of east central Florida, including the following counties, Martin and St. Lucie. * WHEN...Until 330 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 134 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Port Saint Lucie, Walton, Fort Pierce, Stuart, White City, Saint Lucie Nuclear Power Plant, Fort Pierce Inlet, Jensen Beach, Palm City, Sewall's Point, Port Saint Lucie River Park, Indian River Estates, Saint Lucie West, Fort Pierce South, Tradition, Fort Pierce North, Nettles Island, Saint Lucie Airport, North River Shores and Saint Lucie Village. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... ...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...A portion of east central Florida, including the following counties, Volusia, Brevard, Indian River, Martin, and Saint Lucie. * WHEN...Through this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Slow-moving bands of rain will continue to be possible today. For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking waves of 9 to 12 feet expected in the surf zone. * WHERE...Coastal Volusia, Coastal Brevard, Coastal Indian River, Coastal Saint Lucie, and Coastal Martin Counties. * WHEN...For the High Rip Current Risk, through late Friday night. For the High Surf Advisory, through 8 PM EDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... High surf will affect the beaches in the advisory area, producing localized beach erosion and dangerous swimming conditions. Swimmers should remain out of the water due to large breaking waves and dangerous surf conditions. Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away from shore, which occur most often at low spots or breaks in the sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as jetties and piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards, beach patrol flags and signs. Entering the surf is strongly discouraged. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help. &&
