For the Cold Weather Advisory, very cold wind chills as low as 22 expected. * WHERE...Volusia, Inland Indian River, Inland Northern Brevard, Inland Saint Lucie, Inland Southern Brevard, Mainland Northern Brevard, Okeechobee, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, and Lake. * WHEN...From 2 AM to 9 AM EST Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Very cold temperatures can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure. Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside. Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. Bring pets and potted plants indoors. Check on elderly neighbors to make sure their furnace is working. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes, they can be wrapped, drained or allowed to drip slowly. &&

...RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EST THIS EVENING FOR LOW HUMIDITY GUSTY NORTHWEST WINDS ACROSS EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA... * AFFECTED AREA...Volusia, Lake, Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Brevard, Okeechobee, Indian River, St. Lucie and Martin Counties. * WIND...Northwest winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts between 25 to 35 mph. * HUMIDITY...20 to 30 percent. * IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. ...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT... * WHAT...Dangerous rip currents, rough surf and a strong southward flowing longshore current. * WHERE...Beaches of Volusia, Brevard, Indian River, St Lucie, and Martin Counties. * WHEN...Through late tonight. * IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away from shore, which occur most often at low spots or breaks in the sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as jetties and piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards, beach patrol flags and signs. Entering the surf is strongly discouraged. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help. &&
