For the High Rip Current Risk, dangerous rip currents expected. For the Coastal Flood Advisory, minor coastal flooding expected. * WHERE...Coastal Volusia County. * WHEN...For the High Surf Advisory, from 8 AM this morning to 4 AM EDT Saturday. For the High Rip Current Risk, from 8 AM EDT this morning through late Friday night. For the Coastal Flood Advisory, from 5 PM this afternoon to 11 AM EDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Some flooding of low-lying lots, parks and roadways may occur near the shoreline. Only isolated road closures are expected. Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A strong, southward flowing longshore current is expected to develop in the surf zone, in addition to the other hazards. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Onshore winds and above normal tides will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. High surf will affect the beaches in the advisory area, producing localized beach erosion and dangerous swimming conditions. Swimmers should remain out of the water due to large breaking waves and dangerous surf conditions. Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away from shore, which occur most often at low spots or breaks in the sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as jetties and piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards, beach patrol flags and signs. Entering the surf is strongly discouraged. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help. &&

...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT FROM THIS EVENING TO THURSDAY MORNING... * WHAT...Minor Flooding is forecast on Thursday. * WHERE...St Johns River near Astor. * WHEN...From Thursday night to at least Sunday night. * IMPACTS...At 2.3 feet, Many docks become submerged along the river and in canals in the Astor community. Water enters yards of properties on Bartram Road, Holiday Circle and along Wild Hog Road on the Lake County side. In Volusia County, water encroaches yards of homes on the river side of Alice Drive. No wake zones are in effect from near the South Moon Canal to approximately 800 feet south of the Riverview lodge. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 9:30 PM EDT Wednesday the stage was 2.2 feet. - Bankfull stage is 2.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to Minor Flood Stage (2.3 ft) on Thursday at 8:00 PM EDT and peak at 2.6ft at 2:00 PM EDT on Sunday.
