For the second Cold Weather Advisory, very cold wind chills as low as 25 expected. For the Freeze Watch, sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30 possible. * WHERE...DeSoto, Hardee, and Highlands Counties. * WHEN...For the first Cold Weather Advisory, until 9 AM EST this morning. For the second Cold Weather Advisory, from midnight tonight to 9 AM EST Wednesday. For the Freeze Watch, from late Wednesday night through Thursday morning. * IMPACTS...Very cold temperatures can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure. Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly.
