Northwestern Cape May County in southern New Jersey... * Until 745 PM EDT. * At 635 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from North East to Cecilton to near Starr to near Cambridge, moving east at 45 mph. HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and ping pong ball size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. * Locations impacted include... Wilmington, Vineland, Dover, Newark, Millville, Bridgeton, Middletown, Georgetown, Cumberland, Glassboro, Pennsville, Smyrna, Milford, Pitman, Carneys Point, Seaford, Elsmere, New Castle, Penns Grove, and Salem. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the basement or small central room in a sturdy structure. Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. People outside should move immediately to shelter inside a strong building. Stay away from windows. HAZARD...Waterspouts, wind gusts in excess of 50 knots, and large hail. SOURCE...Buoy. IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas.
