At 634 AM EDT, a front was located along a line extending from
Annapolis to 7 nm north of Port Tobacco River, moving east at 30
knots.

HAZARD...Wind gusts 34 knots or greater.

SOURCE...Observed wind gusts over land.

IMPACT...Boaters in small craft could be thrown overboard by
suddenly higher winds and waves capsizing their vessel.

Locations impacted include...
Potomac Creek, Nanjemoy Creek, Swan Point, Gunston Hall, Occoquan
Bay, Popes Creek, Maryland Point, Port Tobacco River, Colonial Beach,
Leesylvania State Park, Cobb Island, Mathias Point, U.S. 301 Nice
Memorial Bridge, Mason Neck State Park, Woodrow Wilson Bridge,
Wicomico River, Indian Head, Fort Hunt, Brent Point, and Reagan
National Airport.

TO 6 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Northwest winds 15 to 25 kt with gusts up to 30 kt
expected.

* WHERE...Tidal Potomac River from Key Bridge to Cobb Island MD,
and Chesapeake Bay and adjoining estuaries north of Drum Point
MD.

* WHEN...From 6 AM this morning to 6 PM EDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Conditions will be hazardous to small craft.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...An abrupt wind shift to the northwest
with a rapid increase in gusts is expected between 4 AM and 7
AM. A brief period of wind gusts 35 to 40 knots is possible
during this time, and Special Marine Warnings may be needed.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller
vessels, should avoid navigating in hazardous conditions.
