...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 845 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Minor flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of southern Connecticut, including the following
counties, Fairfield, Middlesex and New Haven.

* WHEN...Until 845 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 645 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy showers. Minor
flooding is already occurring in the advisory area. Between 1
and 2 inches of rain have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over
the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Bridgeport, New Haven, Waterbury, Norwalk, Danbury, Meriden,
Milford, Middletown, Wallingford, Shelton, Naugatuck,
Guilford, Southbury, New Canaan, Wolcott, Clinton, East
Hampton, Durham, Chester and Newtown.

including the following counties, Putnam and Westchester.

* WHEN...Until 715 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 537 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated moderate to locally
heavy rain continuing. Minor flooding is already occurring in
the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen
and an additional 0.50 to 1 inch of rain is possible.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Bridgeport, Stamford, Waterbury, Norwalk, Danbury, Milford,
Shelton, Naugatuck, Southbury, New Canaan, Sherman, Newtown,
Fairfield, Greenwich, Stratford, Trumbull, Westport,
Ridgefield, Darien and Monroe.

...COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS
EVENING...

* WHAT...One to locally 2 ft of inundation above ground level
expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline.

* WHERE...In Connecticut, Southern Fairfield County. In New
York, Southern Westchester County.

* WHEN...From 4 PM to 8 PM EDT this afternoon and evening.

* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Minor flooding in the more vulnerable
locations near the waterfront and shoreline. Some roads and low
lying properties including parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes
and businesses with basements near the waterfront will
experience minor flooding.

* SHORELINE IMPACTS...Breaking waves of 3 to 4 ft along the
shoreline will result in beach erosion as well as splashover
onto shoreline roads and properties exacerbating flooding.
Minor damage to shorefront structures possible.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Heavy rain and runoff during the times of
high tide may result in locally moderate road flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be
closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of
unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone
property.
