...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Heat index values or the "feel-like" temperatures up to 95 to 100 with low 100s in the immediate Hudson Valley. * WHERE...The Mohawk and Hudson River Valleys in eastern New York, eastern Windham County in southern Vermont and Litchfield Counties in Northwest Connecticut. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The combination of hot temperatures and high levels of humidity will result in dangerous heat index values, or feel-like temperatures, ranging from 95 to 100 with low 100s in the immediate Hudson Valley this afternoon. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
