...HEAVY SNOW BANDS THIS EVENING...

HAZARDS...Bands of heavy snow will reduce visibility to less than a
quarter of a mile at times. These bands of heavy snow are producing
snowfall at the rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour.

LOCATIONS IMPACTED INCLUDE...
Yonkers, Bridgeport, Stamford, Norwalk, Danbury, New Rochelle, White
Plains, Milford, Shelton, New City, Port Chester, Newburgh,
Middletown, Paramus, and West Milford.

SAFETY INFO...
The snow will accumulate so rapidly that it will be extremely
difficult for the road crews to keep the roads clear. Be prepared
for difficult travel due to the high snowfall rates, low
visibilities, and snow covered roads. Travel is not recommended this
evening. If travel is necessary, slow down and allow extra time to
reach your destination.

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM THIS AFTERNOON
TO 1 PM EST SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 6 and
9 inches.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Connecticut, northeast New Jersey,
and southeast New York.

* WHEN...From 4 PM this afternoon to 1 PM EST Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will
likely become slick and hazardous. Visibilities may drop below 1/4
mile due to falling and blowing snow. Travel could be very
difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday
evening commute.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The period of heaviest snowfall (1-2"/hr)
will occur between 6pm and midnight, making travel very difficult.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency. Check local Department of
Transportation information services for the latest road conditions.

Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely
necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider taking a winter
storm kit along with you, including such items as tire chains,
booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing.
Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help
you survive in case you become stranded.
