...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM EDT THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of southern Connecticut, including the following
counties, Fairfield, Middlesex, New Haven and New London.

* WHEN...Until 700 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is
imminent.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 406 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
indicated heavy rain. This will cause urban and small stream
flooding. Overflowing poor drainage areas will cause minor
flooding in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain
have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Jewett City, Bridgeport, New Haven, Waterbury, Meriden,
Milford, Middletown, Wallingford, Norwich, Shelton,
Naugatuck, New London, Guilford, Southbury, Wolcott,
Colchester, Clinton, East Hampton, Groton and Old Saybrook.

- At 12:45 AM EDT Tuesday the stage was 10.5 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
early this morning to a crest of 11.1 feet early this
morning. It will then fall below flood stage late this
morning.
- Flood stage is 11.0 feet.
