Southwestern Columbia County in east central New York... * Until 530 PM EDT. * At 432 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Red Hook, or near Saugerties, moving east at 30 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. * Locations impacted include... Kingston, Saugerties, Rhinebeck, Hurley, Woodstock, Sharon, Pine Plains, Red Hook, Norfolk, Ancram, Canaan, Millerton, West Hurley, Saugerties South, Port Ewen, Falls Village, Lake Katrine, Olivebridge, Bethel, and Salisbury. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning are occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers.
