A Marine Weather Statement has been issued for the following areas...

Long Island Sound...
Peconic and Gardiners Bays...

At 1249 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated showers and thunderstorms,
capable of producing winds to around 30 knots. These thunderstorms
were located along a line extending from 9 nm north of Fire Island
Inlet to Great Peconic Bay, moving north at 35 knots.

Locations impacted include...
Long Neck Point, Horton Point, Smithtown Bay, Cold Spring Harbor,
Stratford Shoal, Madison Reef, Gardiners Bay, Huntington Bay, The
Race, and Mattituck Inlet.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher
waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor
immediately until these storms pass.

* IMPACTS...At 11.5 feet, Water reaches the Maples area of Shelton.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 10:46 AM EDT Tuesday the stage was 11.6 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 12.1
feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage
early Thursday morning.
- Flood stage is 11.0 feet.

River.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 2:45 AM EDT Tuesday the stage was 11.5 feet.
- Forecast...The river will rise above flood stage this morning
to 12.9 feet. It will then fall below flood stage this
afternoon to 8.3 feet by early tonight. It will rise to 8.4
feet just after midnight tonight. It will then fall to 8.0
feet tomorrow evening. It will then rise again but remain
below flood stage.
- Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
