...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT CENTRAL LA PLATA COUNTY THROUGH 400 AM MDT... At 328 AM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Durango, moving east at 30 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation and outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Durango. This includes the following highways... U.S. Highway 550 in Colorado between mile markers 21 and 29. U.S. Highway 160 in Colorado between mile markers 75 and 85, and between mile markers 90 and 98. Colorado 172 near mile marker 24. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm.
