...FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 AM PST EARLY THIS MORNING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...A portion of southwest California, including the following county, Los Angeles. * WHEN...Until 500 AM PST. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 216 AM PST, Overflowing poor drainage areas will cause minor flooding in the advisory area. Minor mud and debris flow will be possible across recent burn scars. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Pasadena, Duarte, Azusa, Monrovia, Claremont, Mount Wilson, Alhambra, El Monte, Montebello, West Covina, Pomona, Diamond Bar, Walnut, La Puente, Rowland Heights, and East Los Angeles. - Minor debris flows may be occurring or about to occur in and around the recent burn scars, such as the Eaton, Bridge, Palisades burn scars. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely. &&

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR THE EATON BURN SCAR REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 315 AM PST EARLY THIS MORNING FOR CENTRAL LOS ANGELES COUNTY... At 216 AM PST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated that heavy rain was falling over the Eaton Burn Scar. Between 0.3 and 0.9 inches of rain have fallen across the burn area with rainfall rates ranging from 0.50 to 1.00 inch per hour. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will result in debris flow moving through the Eaton. The debris flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials. HAZARD...Debris flows caused by heavy rain in and around the Eaton Burn Scar. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT...Mud, rock, and debris flows will impact drainages, roads, and residences in and directly below the burn area. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Sierra Madre, Arcadia, Mount Wilson, Pasadena, and Monrovia. The heaviest rainfall has fallen across the eastern portion of the Eaton burn scar and runoff will likely affect the canyons in the Eaton burn scar, including the Pasadena, Hastings, Bailey, and Santa Anita Canyons. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Flash Flood Warning for a recent burn area means that flooding and debris flows are imminent or occurring. Residents living in or immediately downstream should take immediate precautions to protect life and property. Quickly move away from the burn area only if it is safe to do so, otherwise shelter in place and move to a second story or the highest location in your home to stay out of the path of fast-moving water and debris flows. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
