Some low-water crossings may become impassable. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 548 PM PST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... At 504 PM PST, Doppler radar indicated showers and thunderstorms producing heavy rain in the warned area. Law enforcement has reported vehicles stuck in flood waters on Fort Irwin Road near Interstate 15. Flash flooding is already occurring. HAZARD...Life-threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Life-threatening flash flooding of low-water crossings, creeks, normally dry washes and roads. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Daggett, Newberry Springs and Nebo Center. This includes the following highways... Interstate 15 in California between mile markers 81 and 111. Interstate 40 in California between mile markers 4 and 37. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded.
