...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 745 PM PDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Arroyo and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Eastern Los Angeles County in southwestern California... including the Summit and Bridge burn scars... * WHEN...Until 745 PM PDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos and dry washes. Minor debris flows may occur in the recent burn scars. Water over roadways. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 146 PM PDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain. This will cause arroyo and small stream flooding. Between 0.5 and 0.8 inches of rain have fallen. - Rainfall rates will generally range around 0.25 to 0.33 inch per hour. Isolated rates may reach 0.50 inch per hour for brief periods. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Wrightwood, Llano, Valyermo, Highway 138 between Llano and the San Bernardino County line, Angeles Crest Highway between Mount Waterman and Wrightwood and Big Pines. - Recent burn scars including the Summit and Bridge burn scars. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain. Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely. &&
