...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT PDT TONIGHT... * WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by heavy rain and thunderstorms. * WHERE...Portions of central and northern California, including the following counties, Placer, Amador, Butte, El Dorado, Nevada, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Sutter, Yolo and Yuba. * WHEN...Until midnight PDT tonight. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos. Water over roadways. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 641 PM PDT, local law enforcement reported heavy rain in the advisory area due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Sacramento, Elk Grove, Roseville, Citrus Heights, Folsom, Rocklin, Galt, Auburn, Grass Valley, Marysville, Placerville, Fair Oaks, El Dorado Hills, Carmichael, Cameron Park, Yuba City, Rancho Cordova, West Sacramento, Lincoln and Lake Of The Pines. - Including portions of Interstate 80, US Highway 50 and Highway 49 - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Snow accumulations between 6 to 10 inches for communities surrounding Lake Tahoe and up to 7000 feet, and 12 to 25 inches above 7000 feet and for Sierra passes. Winds gusting as high as 90 mph along the Sierra crest and 20-45 mph for communities surrounding Lake Tahoe. Wave heights for Lake Tahoe from 1 to 3 feet. * WHERE...Greater Lake Tahoe Area. * WHEN...From 2 PM this afternoon to 11 PM PDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible, especially for the Saturday evening and Sunday morning commutes.
