...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 1045 AM PST THIS MORNING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of southwest California, including the following county, Santa Barbara. * WHEN...Until 1045 AM PST Saturday. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos. Water over roadways. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 439 AM PST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated moderate to heavy rain falling with a band of rain across southwestern Santa Barbara County. Rainfall rates between 0.25 and 0.50 inch per hour have been observed with this band of rainfall. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Lompoc, Santa Ynez, Solvang, Highway 101 through Gaviota State Park, Refugio State Beach, El Capitan State Beach, Buellton, and Highway 154 over San Marcos Pass. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely. &&

...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH MONDAY MORNING... * WHAT...Dangerous rip currents and breaking waves due to elevated surf expected. Minor coastal flooding due to abnormally high tides between 7.0 and 7.5 feet and gusty southerly winds. * WHERE...Beaches and coasts of Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo Counties. * WHEN...Through Monday morning. * IMPACTS...Pooling of sea water is possible around high tide at beach and harbor areas that is uncommon with normal tidal ranges. Enhanced beach erosion is also possible. No significant damage is expected. There is an increased risk of ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Waves can wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats nearshore. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Peak high tides are expected between 8 am and 11 am. A High Surf Advisory will likely be needed for Sunday for the Central Coast and Ventura Coasts. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Remain out of the water due to hazardous swimming conditions, or stay near occupied lifeguard towers. Rock jetties can be deadly in such conditions, stay off the rocks. &&
