Marine Weather Statement
Issued: 9:03 PM Apr. 11, 2026 – National Weather Service
...CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE COASTAL WATERS THROUGH
SUNDAY MORNING...

A rather potent cold front is forecast to move through the
southwestern California coastal waters tonight and Sunday
morning. Conditions are favorable for a convective squall line to
develop with the cold front as it pushes south and east across
the waters.

This system will bring rain and a chance of thunderstorms to the
northern coastal waters this evening then spread south overnight
into Sunday morning.

Any thunderstorms that develop will bring the threat of cloud to
ocean lightning, strong and erratic winds, brief heavy rain, small
hail, and isolated waterspouts. These conditions can create
hazardous ocean conditions, especially for smaller vessels.
Mariners are advised to have a plan to reach safe harbor quickly
if thunderstorms develop.
