...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM PST THIS MORNING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Southeastern Santa Barbara and Southwestern Ventura Counties. * WHEN...Until 700 AM PST Saturday. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1250 AM PST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain. Overflowing poor drainage areas will cause minor flooding in the advisory area. Between 1.5 and 5.1 inches of rain have fallen with this storm across the advisory area, highest in the mountains. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Oxnard, Ventura, Santa Barbara, Ojai, Port Hueneme, Carpinteria, La Conchita, Summerland, Goleta, and El Rio. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. ...FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...A portion of southwest California, including the following areas, all areas in Los Angeles County, and the Ventura County Coast and Valleys, the northern Ventura County and Santa Barbara County Interior mountains, the Santa Susana and Santa Monica mountains, the Central Coast portion of Santa Barbara County, and all of the Channel Islands. * WHEN...From late tonight through Saturday evening. * IMPACTS...Ample roadway flooding with a number of closures are possible, including rockslides and mudslides in canyon roads. Some neighborhoods may experience shallow flooding of buildings. Heavy and dangerous flows are expected in rivers and creeks, with one or two creeks possibly overflowing.
