The National Weather Service in Medford has upgraded the Fire
Weather Watch to a Red Flag Warning, which is in effect from 2 PM
to 8 PM PDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Abundant lightning on dry fuels resulting in the
potential for numerous new fire starts.

* AFFECTED AREA...In California, all of Fire weather zones 280,
281, 284 and 285.

* TIMING...For the first Red Flag Warning, from 2 PM until 11 PM
PDT this evening. For the second Red Flag Warning, from 2 PM
until 8 PM PDT Thursday.

* THUNDERSTORMS...Scattered to widespread thunderstorms with
abundant lightning are expected. Storms are likely to be wet,
but lightning strikes outside of precipitation cores are
possible, and cause for concern for new fire starts.

* OUTFLOW WINDS...Gusts of 35 to 50 mph could travel outward up
to 25 miles from thunderstorm cores.
