...EXTREME HEAT WATCH IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY MORNING THROUGH THURSDAY, OCTOBER 08... * WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with temperatures up to 90 at the coast and 105 in the valleys. * WHERE...Coast and valleys of Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. * WHEN...From Friday morning through Thursday, October 08. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Very hot temperatures are likely to continue into the second week of October, possibly requiring an extension of this product. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. &&

...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IN EFFECT THROUGH WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON... ...COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY IS CANCELLED... ...HIGH SURF ADVISORY IS CANCELLED... * WHAT...Strong rip currents. Minor tidal overflows, especially during the late morning high tides. * WHERE...Catalina and Santa Barbara Islands, Ventura County Beaches, Malibu Coast and Los Angeles County Beaches. * WHEN...Through Wednesday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Pooling of sea water is possible around high tide at beach and harbor areas that is uncommon with normal tidal ranges. Enhanced beach erosion is also possible. No significant damage is expected. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Remain out of the water due to hazardous swimming conditions, or stay near occupied lifeguard towers. Rock jetties can be deadly in such conditions, stay off the rocks. &&
