...HIGH SURF ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 11 PM THIS EVENING TO 11 AM PST SATURDAY... * WHAT...Large breaking waves of 6 to 10 feet with dangerous rip currents. * WHERE...Ventura County Beaches, Malibu Coast and Los Angeles County Beaches. * WHEN...From 11 PM this evening to 11 AM PST Saturday. * IMPACTS...There is an increased risk for ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Large breaking waves can cause injury, wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats near shore. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Minor to potentially isolated moderate coastal flooding for south-facing beaches especially during high tides. This is expected to occur from this evening through Thursday due to strong southerly winds. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions, or stay near occupied lifeguard towers. Rock jetties can be deadly in such conditions, stay off the rocks. &&

...DANGEROUS MARINE CONDITIONS ACROSS THE COASTAL WATERS OF SOUTHWEST CALIFORNIA TUESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH THURSDAY EVENING DUE TO WIDESPREAD GALE TO STORM FORCE WINDS WITH ASSOCIATED STEEP SEAS AND THREAT OF THUNDERSTORMS AND ISOLATED WATERSPOUTS... A powerful Atmospheric River storm system will bring dangerous marine conditions to the coastal waters Tuesday afternoon through Thursday evening. Widespread Gale force south to southeast winds are expected to overspread the coastal waters Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday night, and persist into Wednesday, with another round of Gale force winds possible on Thursday. Storm force winds will be likely for the coastal waters north of Point Conception on Tuesday night. The strong winds will bring dangerous and very steep, choppy seas. The storm will also bring the threat of thunderstorms, some of which could be strong, with locally damaging winds. Conditions are also favorable for isolated waterspouts. Monitor NOAA Weather Radio for the latest information, forecasts, and warnings. This will likely be a dangerous storm and mariners should exercise extreme caution and are urged to remain in safe harbor for the duration of the storm.

Winds are expected to peak in most areas Tuesday night into Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. There will be the risk of downed trees, especially considering the very wet soils that will occur this week. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. ...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH THURSDAY EVENING FOR DANGEROUS AND POTENTIALLY LIFE THREATENING FLOODING... * WHAT...Significant and widespread flooding caused by excessive rainfall will be likely, with potential debris flow impacts across recent burn scars. * WHERE...For all areas of San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventura and Los Angeles counties. * WHEN...From Tuesday afternoon through Thursday evening. * IMPACTS...This prolonged strong Atmospheric River storm system will bring periods of heavy rain from late Tuesday into Thursday evening. Potential flooding impacts include the threat of significant and widespread urban roadway flooding, a high risk of major rock/mudslides, and rapid rises in creeks, streams, and rivers which will likely lead to swift water rescues. The recent burn scars will be at risk for debris flows, possibly damaging. These flooding impacts will likely lead to significant travel delays and road closures during this busy holiday travel period. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Heavy rainfall with possible thunderstorms is expected with high rainfall rates, potentially exceeding one inch per hour during the peak of the event Tuesday night into Wednesday across favored south facing slopes and near thunderstorms.
