...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM PST THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of southwest California, including the following counties, east-central to western and northwestern Los Angeles and eastern Ventura. * WHEN...Until 600 PM PST. * IMPACTS...Observed rain rates across the advisory area are up to 0.50 inches per hour. Minor mud and debris flow are possible on canyon roads and recent burn scars. There is a slight chance of thunderstorms which could produce locally higher rates. Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 151 PM PST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley, Acton, Santa Clarita, Northridge, Van Nuys, North Hollywood, Chatsworth, Burbank, Encino, Universal City, Woodland Hills, Griffith Park, Pasadena, Palmdale, Mount Wilson, Agoura Hills, Alhambra, Glendora and Altadena. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Minor mud and debris flow are possible on canyon roads and recent burn scars. There is a slight chance of thunderstorms which could produce locally higher rates. Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Gusty cross winds may occur on area roadways, including Highways 2 and 14.
