...COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM PDT WEDNESDAY... ...HIGH SURF ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM PDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Large breaking waves of 3 to 6 feet with sets up to 8 feet, highest at south and southwest-facing beaches. Strong and dangerous rip and longshore currents. Minor coastal flooding from a combination of high surf and high astronomical tides during the evenings. * WHERE...Beaches of Orange and San Diego Counties. * WHEN...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, until 11 PM PDT Wednesday. For the High Surf Advisory, until 11 PM PDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with isolated road closures expected. Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and beach erosion. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...While surf diminishes gradually into Wednesday, the high astronomical tides linger into mid-week which could continue to bring minor coastal flooding during evening high tides. Predicted higher high tides: Newport Beach: 7.0 feet at 7:59 PM. La Jolla: 6.9 feet at 7:54 PM. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. ...EXTREME HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM PDT WEDNESDAY... ...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 8 PM WEDNESDAY TO 8 PM PDT THURSDAY... * WHAT...For the Extreme Heat Warning, dangerously hot conditions with high temperatures in the mid 80s at the beaches to 90s for higher coastal terrain with low temperatures in the lower to mid 70s. For the Heat Advisory, high temperatures around 80 near the coast to the lower to mid 90s for higher coastal terrain. * WHERE...Orange County Coastal Areas and San Diego County Coastal Areas. * WHEN...For the Extreme Heat Warning, until 8 PM PDT Wednesday. For the Heat Advisory, from 8 PM Wednesday to 8 PM PDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events. Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Major to Extreme HeatRisk through Wednesday. Warm overnight low temperature will limit relief from the heat. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Tropical moisture will continue to stream over the area and bring a slight chance of thunderstorms to the coastal waters through at least this afternoon, possibly into this evening. Any thunderstorm that forms will be capable of producing locally gale force winds and rough seas, dangerous lightning, and brief heavy rainfall with reduced visibility.
