...EXTREME HEAT WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM PDT THURSDAY...

* WHAT...For the Extreme Heat Warning, dangerously hot conditions
with high temperatures in the 80s at the beaches to the mid to
upper 90s along higher coastal terrain on Thursday with morning low
temperatures in the lower to mid 70s.

* WHERE...Orange County Coastal Areas and San Diego County Coastal
Areas.

* WHEN...Until 8 PM PDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat events.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Major to Extreme HeatRisk through today.
Moderate to Major HeatRisk on Thursday. Warm overnight low
temperature will limit relief from the heat.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car
interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

If you do not have air conditioning in your home or lack shelter, you
can call 211 or visit 211ca.org for assistance locating appropriate
shelter from the heat.

...COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM PDT THIS
EVENING...

* WHAT...Minor coastal flooding from high tides this evening.

* WHERE...Beaches of Orange and San Diego Counties.

* WHEN...Until 11 PM PDT.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only
isolated road closures expected. Most likely during Wednesday
evening's high tide.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...High tides this evening at Newport Beach: 6.3
feet at 845 PM. At La Jolla: 6.3 feet at 839 PM. Measured high
tides are exceeding predicted levels by 6-7 inches.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

High tides could generate flooding of low areas along the shore.
