Minor debris flows. * WHERE...A portion of southwest California, including the following county, Central Los Angeles. * WHEN...Until 600 AM PST. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Rock slides and mud slides. Minor debris flows. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 247 AM PST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Acton, Pasadena, Griffith Park, Mount Wilson, Burbank, Alhambra, Universal City, Downtown Los Angeles, Hollywood, North Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Van Nuys, Culver City, Inglewood, Whittier, Encino, Santa Monica, Venice, Glendora and Santa Clarita. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Rock slides and mud slides, along with minor debris flows. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 109 AM PST, Doppler radar indicated moderate to locally heavy rain re-developing and spreading across the Advisory area. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Rock slides and mud slides, along with minor debris flows will be possible. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... ...FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH FRIDAY AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Significant and widespread flooding caused by excessive rainfall will be likely, including rock slides, mud slides, and debris flows. * WHERE...The following counties... Los Angeles. Ventura. Santa Barbara. San Luis Obispo. * WHEN...Through Friday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Mud and debris flows will be possible across foothill and mountain areas, including recent burn scars. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - This prolonged strong Atmospheric River storm system will bring periods of heavy rain through late this week. Potential flooding impacts include the threat of significant and widespread urban roadway flooding, a high risk of major rock and mud slides, and rapid rises in creeks, streams, and rivers which will likely lead to swift water rescues. The recent burn scars will be at risk for debris flows, possibly damaging.
