The Santa Monica Mountains and Foothills from the Malibu Area to Hollywood of Southwestern Los Angeles County in southwestern California... * Until noon PST Friday. * At 338 AM PST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated areas of heavy rain re-developing and becoming persistent over the warned area. The expected rainfall rate is 0.25 to 1 inch per hour. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Rock slides, mud slides, and debris flows will be possible. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain. Rock slides and mud slides, along with possible debris flows. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Malibu, Woodland Hills, Encino, Agoura Hills, Van Nuys, Beverly Hills, North Hollywood, Hollywood, Universal City, Burbank, Griffith Park, Topanga State Park, Pacific Palisades, Calabasas, Malibu Creek State Park, Brentwood, Interstate 405 through the Sepulveda Pass, Bel Air and Sherman Oaks. Los Angeles. Ventura. Santa Barbara. San Luis Obispo. * WHEN...Through Friday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Mud and debris flows will be possible across foothill and mountain areas, including recent burn scars. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - This prolonged strong Atmospheric River storm system will bring periods of heavy rain through late this week. Potential flooding impacts include the threat of significant and widespread urban roadway flooding, a high risk of major rock and mud slides, and rapid rises in creeks, streams, and rivers which will likely lead to swift water rescues. The recent burn scars will be at risk for debris flows, possibly damaging.
