Yavapai County in west central Arizona... * Until 615 PM MST. * At 322 PM MST, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain in an area spanning from Prescott to near Paulden. Between 0.5 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, normally dry washes, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Prescott, Williamson Valley, Cayuse Picnic Area, Alto Pit OHV, Wildwood Estates, Thumbe Butte, Sullivan Buttes, Downtown Prescott, Rancho Vista Estates, Sunset Lookout, Quartz Mountain, Copper Basin, Paulden, Granite Mountain Wilderness, Iron Springs, AC Williams Granite Creek Park, Whipple and Courthouse Plaza. This includes the following highways... State Route 69 near mile marker 296. State Route 89 between mile markers 310 and 313...and near mile marker 336. This includes the following recreation areas and campgrounds... Yavapai Campground, Yavapai Campground, Alto Pit OHV, Cayuse Picnic Area, Acker Park and AC Williams Granite Creek Park. This includes the following creeks, washes and rivers... Spence Creek, Bottleneck Wash, Dillon Wash, Mint Wash, Woolsey Wash, Iron Springs Wash, Big Chino Wash, Willow Creek, Hassayampa River, Bannon Creek, Mud Tank Wash, Butte Wash, Skull Valley Wash, Verde River, Granite Creek, Copper Basin Wash, Williamson Valley Wash, Cooper Wash, Little Chino Valley, Butte Creek, Finch Wash, Miller Creek, Logan Wash and Strickland Wash. Yavapai County in west central Arizona... * Until 400 PM MST. * At 144 PM MST, a river gauge on the Agua Fria River at Rock Springs reported a rapid rise of 4.0 feet from thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is expected to continue. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...River gauge reported. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, normally dry washes, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Rock Springs. This includes Interstate 17 near mile marker 242. This includes the following recreation areas and campgrounds... Black Canyon Campground. This includes the following creeks, washes and rivers... Agua Fria River, Slate Creek and Black Canyon Creek. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Flooding of washes and creeks will occur, some dirt roads will become muddy and impassable. Paved roads and underpasses could become flooded as well. Low water crossings will become dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. ...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM MST THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive and long duration rainfall. * WHERE...Portions of central Arizona, including Yavapai and Gila Counties. * WHEN...Until 11 PM MST this evening. * IMPACTS...Flooding will be possible over burn areas, low-water crossings, creeks, streams, washes and swimming holes. Larger creeks and rivers may exceed bankfull. Flooding of paved roads and highway underpasses will be possible. Unpaved roads could become muddy and impassable. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Low pressure will interact with tropical moisture to produce numerous showers and embedded thunderstorms, with heavy rain that will fall over saturated soils and burn scars. This could lead to flash flooding and rises on streams and rivers. - Additional information is available at weather.gov/flagstaff. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
