Localized Major Heat Risk. * WHERE...Southeast Pinal County, Tucson Metro Area, Upper Gila River Valley, and Upper San Pedro River Valley (mainly north of Benson). * WHEN...Until 8 PM MST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water. &&

The National Weather Service in Tucson has issued a Fire Weather Watch for strong and gusty winds, low relative humidity, and high to very high fire danger, which is in effect from Saturday morning through Sunday evening. * AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zones 150, 151, 152, 153 and 154. * TIMING...From 10 AM MST Saturday through 8 PM MST Sunday. * WINDS...Southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 to 40 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...8 to 15 percent. * IMPACTS...Any fires that develop or are ongoing will have the potential to spread rapidly.
