Apache County in northeastern Arizona... * WHEN...Until 545 AM MST /645 AM MDT/ Tonight. * IMPACTS...Flooding of creeks, normally dry washes and roadways is imminent or occurring. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 545 PM MST /645 PM MDT/, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. Flooding is already occurring over area roadways in the warned area, including the Navajo 71 roadway. In addition, the river gage on the Little Colorado River at Holbrook is forecast to exceed minor flood stage, which has impacted the railroad bridge and caused overflow on the south bank of the river in the past. - This includes the following creeks, washes and rivers... Roads are closed and impassable due to flooding. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 410 PM MST, emergency management reported flooding in the warned area, with Highway 73 closed between Carrizo and Cedar Creek. Between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. - This includes the following creeks, washes and rivers... North Fork White River and Bear Canyon. This has led to flooded roadways within the area, and the Little Colorado River stream gage near St Johns has risen to Minor Flood stage. In the past, water begins to impact homes along Water Street next to the Little Colorado River. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. - This includes the following creeks, washes and rivers... ...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT... * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive and long duration rainfall. * WHERE...Portions of north central and northeastern Arizona, including areas from Flagstaff to St. John's and areas northward. * WHEN...Through late tonight. * IMPACTS...Flooding will be possible over burn areas, low-water crossings, creeks, streams, washes and swimming holes. Some larger creeks and rivers are expected to exceed bankfull. Flooding of paved roads and highway underpasses will be possible. Unpaved roads could become muddy and impassable. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Low pressure will interact with tropical moisture to produce numerous showers and embedded thunderstorms, with heavy rain that will fall over saturated soils and burn scars.
