* Until 545 PM MST.

* At 457 PM MST, a severe thunderstorm was located over Piestewa Peak
Park, or near Phoenix, moving northeast at 25 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage
to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
Phoenix, Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Cave Creek, Carefree,
Piestewa Peak Park, Metro Center, Scottsdale Airport, North
Mountain Park, and Desert Ridge Marketplace.

This includes the following highways...
AZ Interstate 17 between mile markers 208 and 210.
AZ Route 51 between mile markers 5 and 15.
AZ Route 101 between mile markers 25 and 39.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning
are occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is
one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder,
you are close enough to be struck by lightning.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT MARICOPA COUNTY THROUGH 530 PM
MST...

At 448 PM MST, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
Piestewa Peak Park, or over Phoenix, moving northeast at 25 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
possible.

Locations impacted include...
Phoenix, Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, New River, Cave Creek,
Carefree, Piestewa Peak Park, Deer Valley Airport, North Mountain
Park, Metro Center, Scottsdale Airport, Camelback Mountain, and
Desert Ridge Marketplace.

* WHERE...A portion of south central Arizona, including the
following county, Maricopa.

* WHEN...Until 600 PM MST.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Low-water
crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 428 PM MST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
indicated heavy rain earlier leading to continued runoff in
Indian Bend Wash. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the warned area. Up to 0.75 inches of rain have
fallen.
- This includes the following streams and drainages...
Indian Bend Wash.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, Paradise Valley and Downtown

Valley, East Valley, Fountain Hills/East Mesa, Gila Bend, North
Phoenix/Glendale, Northwest Pinal County, Northwest Valley,
Scottsdale/Paradise Valley, Sonoran Desert Natl Monument, South
Mountain/Ahwatukee, Southeast Valley/Queen Creek, Tonopah Desert
and West Pinal County.

* WHEN...Until 8 PM MST this evening.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Water over roadways. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is
occurring or is imminent.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 214 PM MST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Up to 0.5 inches of rain have
fallen.
- This includes the following streams and drainages...
Cave Creek, Skunk Creek, New River, Apache Wash, Deadman
Wash, Grapevine Wash, Rodger Creek, Cottonwood Creek, Salt
River and Agua Fria River.
Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.
