Gila County in east central Arizona... * Until 815 PM MST. * At 520 PM MST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain in Kellner, Icehouse, and Sixshooter Canyons south of Globe. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Globe, Central Heights-Midland City and Claypool. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. - This includes the following streams and drainages... ...STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS EXPECTED ACROSS GILA...MARICOPA AND PINAL COUNTIES... At 416 PM MST, radar indicated strong thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Punkin Center to near Four Peaks to near Superior. Movement was northeast at 10 mph. Conditions are becoming more favorable for the continued development of additional thunderstorms. Some storms may become strong to severe. Winds in excess of 40 mph and pea size hail will be possible. Locations impacted include... Apache Junction, Florence, Coolidge, Globe, Superior, Hayden, Sycamore Creek, Roosevelt, Sunflower, Christmas, Gold Canyon, Sugarloaf Mountain, Ballantine Trailhead, Round Valley, Queen Creek, San Carlos, Miami, Gold Camp, San Tan Valley, and Sawmill. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may cause localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service. &&

At 412 PM MST, Doppler radar indicated that the heavy rain has ended across the warned area, however flooding remains a threat from earlier heavy rainfall. Between 1 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, normally dry washes, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Payson, Star Valley, and Round Valley This includes the following highways... State Route 260 between mile markers 252 and 255. State Route 87 southbound between mile markers 249 and 251. State Route 87 between mile markers 249 and 254. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Flooding of washes and creeks will occur, some dirt roads will become muddy and impassable. Paved roads and underpasses could become flooded as well. Low water crossings will become dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads.
