Yavapai County in west central Arizona... * Until 800 PM MST. * At 503 PM MST, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain in the Prescott and Chino Valley areas. Between 1 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, normally dry washes, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Chino Valley, Prescott, Prescott Valley, Prescott Regional Airport, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Willow Creek Reservoir, Watson Lake, Fain Lake, Prescott Gateway Mall, Paulden, Center Street Park, Community Center Park, Jim McCasland Willow Creek Park and Watson Lake Park. This includes the following highways... State Route 69 between mile markers 288 and 295. State Route 89 between mile markers 314 and 335. State Route 89A between mile markers 318 and 324. This includes the following recreation areas and campgrounds... Watson Lake Park. This includes the following creeks, washes and rivers... Little Chino Valley, Willow Creek, Verde River, Granite Creek, Bottleneck Wash, Agua Fria River and Lynx Creek. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Flooding of washes and creeks will occur, some dirt roads will become muddy and impassable. Paved roads and underpasses could become flooded as well. Yavapai County in west central Arizona... * Until 700 PM MST. * At 349 PM MST, a river gauge on the Agua Fria River at Rock Springs reported a rapid rise of 4.5 feet from thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is expected to continue. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...River gauge reported. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, normally dry washes, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Rock Springs. This includes Interstate 17 near mile marker 242. This includes the following recreation areas and campgrounds... Black Canyon Campground. This includes the following creeks, washes and rivers... Agua Fria River, Slate Creek and Black Canyon Creek. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Flooding of washes and creeks will occur, some dirt roads will become muddy and impassable. Paved roads and underpasses could become flooded as well. Low water crossings will become dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. ...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM MST THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive and long duration rainfall. * WHERE...Portions of central Arizona, including Yavapai and Gila Counties. * WHEN...Until 11 PM MST this evening. * IMPACTS...Flooding will be possible over burn areas, low-water crossings, creeks, streams, washes and swimming holes. Larger creeks and rivers may exceed bankfull. Flooding of paved roads and highway underpasses will be possible. Unpaved roads could become muddy and impassable. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Low pressure will interact with tropical moisture to produce numerous showers and embedded thunderstorms, with heavy rain that will fall over saturated soils and burn scars. This could lead to flash flooding and rises on streams and rivers. - Additional information is available at weather.gov/flagstaff. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
