...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 730 PM MST THIS EVENING FOR EAST CENTRAL PIMA COUNTY... At 555 PM MST, Doppler radar indicated earlier heavy rain has largely ended, but localized showers and storms remain between Green Valley and Amado. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.2 to 0.4 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Sahuarita, Green Valley, East Sahuarita and Summit. This includes Interstate 19 between mile markers 34 and 49. This includes the following streams and drainages... Box Canyon Wash, Demetrie Wash and Santa Cruz River. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. This will cause small stream flooding and could cause impacts at the Highway 21 bridge and downstream to the International Border. - Vamori Wash at Highway 21 bridge is the most likely place to experience minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
