SOUTHWESTERN JEFFERSON COUNTIES THROUGH 515 PM CDT...

At 438 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
North Johns, or 10 miles west of Bessemer. This thunderstorm was
nearly stationary.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include...
Lake View, North Johns, Abernant, Bucksville, and Weller.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 545 PM CDT THIS
AFTERNOON FOR CENTRAL JEFFERSON COUNTY...

At 434 PM CDT, Heavy rainfall has ended and floodwaters continue to
subside. Water levels remain elevated on Valley and Village Creeks.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Emergency management reported.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Birmingham, Homewood, Fultondale, Tarrant, B.j.c.c., Regions Field,
U.A.B. Campus, Five Points South, Legion Field, Kingston,
Birmingham Southern College, Birmingham Airport, Birmingham
Fairgounds, Ketona Lakes, Vulcan Park, Rickwood Field and Danville.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
