THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WILL ALLOW SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 30 TO EXPIRE AT 10 PM CDT THIS EVENING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN ALABAMA THIS ALLOWS TO EXPIRE 6 COUNTIES IN CENTRAL ALABAMA CHAMBERS CHILTON CLAY COOSA RANDOLPH TALLAPOOSA THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF ALEXANDER CITY, ASHLAND, CLANTON, LANETT, LINEVILLE, ROANOKE, ROCKFORD, AND VALLEY.

...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT CENTRAL CHILTON...WEST CENTRAL TALLAPOOSA AND COOSA COUNTIES THROUGH 1000 PM CDT... At 924 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Hatchet to near Gap Of The Mountain. Movement was east at 40 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Alexander City, Clanton, Jemison, Rockford, Kellyton, Weogufka, Equality, Thorsby, Jacksons' Gap, Hanover, Lyle, Pentonville, Dollar, Bradford, Gap Of The Mountain, Cottage Grove, Bentleyville, Moriah, Nixburg, and Speed. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
