This is up 1 foot from yesterday morning. - Http://www.weather.gov/aprfc - If you live near or along the Tanana River at Manley Hot Springs stay alert and be prepared to take action. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. ...FLOOD ADVISORY FOR AN ICE JAM IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 PM AKDT SATURDAY... * WHAT...Flooding caused by an ice jam is expected. * WHERE...Chatanika near Tight Bend into Minto Flats. * WHEN...Until 100 PM AKDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...An ice jam on the Chatanika River is causing flooding of some cabin properties along the river. More ice is still coming from upstream so the flooding may increase before the jam releases. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1045 AM AKDT, The River Watch Team reported that an ice jam on Chatanika River has moved downstream, flooding a new group of cabins just after the hard bend in the river. Water levels have dropped in the original flood area. A mix of ice and high water stretches for another 20 miles upriver with open water continuing for about 10 miles to the Elliot Highway. - http://www.weather.gov/aprfc - If you have property along the Chatanika River below the Elliott Highway stay alert and be prepared to take action.
