Blizzard Warning
Issued: 1:02 PM Dec. 6, 2025 – National Weather Service
...BLIZZARD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 3 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 3
PM AKST MONDAY...

* WHAT...Blizzard conditions expected. Visibilities reduced to one
quarter mile or less due to blowing and drifting snow. Winds
gusting as high as 60 mph. Wind Chills falling to as low as 35
below zero by Saturday night.

* WHERE...Kuskokwim Delta Coast and Nunivak Island, especially from
Kipnuk north and west.

* WHEN...From 3 PM this afternoon to 3 PM AKST Monday.

* IMPACTS...Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce
visibility. Frostbite may occur in as little as 10 minutes on
exposed skin.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Increasing northerly winds today will
begin to loft snow that fell earlier in the week, leading to
blowing and drifting snow that may significantly reduce
visibilities. There is some uncertainty regarding the quantity of
transportable snow. Visibility reductions from blowing/drifting
snow will be lowest in areas that received more snowfall earlier
in the week, particularly from Kipnuk north and west. Visibility
will improve with diminishing winds on Monday.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds
and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to whiteout
conditions, making travel very hazardous. If you must travel, have a
winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay with your
vehicle.

Marine Weather Statement
Issued: 12:57 PM Dec. 6, 2025 – National Weather Service
...EXTREME VESSEL ICING POSSIBLE FROM NORTH AND WEST OF NUNIVAK
ISLAND TO CAPE NEWENHAM SATURDAY MORNING THROUGH MONDAY
AFTERNOON...

Northeasterly winds in combination with Arctic Air surging south
across the Bering Sea is likely to lead to extreme vessel icing
at rates of 4 cm per hour or greater.

As colder air filters in from the Arctic over the weekend,
northerly winds will intensify across the eastern Bering Sea.
These factors will cause extreme freezing spray to spread south
and west from the Kuskokwim Delta. Heavy to extreme freezing spray
will extend from Cape Newenham to north and west of Nunivak
Island beginning Saturday morning. Extreme freezing spray is also
possible out of Kvichak Bay as far west as Cape Constantine. Winds
diminish on Monday, which should cause icing rates to decrease by
Monday afternoon.

Operating a vessel in heavy to extreme freezing spray is
hazardous. Freezing spray may render mechanical and electronic
components inoperable. Rapid ice accretion on decks and
superstructures may result in catastrophic loss of stability.
