...COLD WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 9 PM THIS EVENING TO NOON AKST THURSDAY... * WHAT...Very cold temperatures as low as 40 to 50 below zero. * WHERE...Copper River Basin. * WHEN...From 9 PM this evening to noon AKST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Dangerously cold temperatures as low as 40 to 50 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 5 minutes. Frostbite and hypothermia are likely if exposed to these temperatures. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Winds across the Copper River Basin are expected to gradually diminish through tonight and remain light through the first half of Thursday. In response to the winds diminishing, temperatures will fall quickly to well below zero overnight tonight through Thursday morning. Ambient temperatures could fall as low as 40 to 50 below zero at times. The coldest readings are expected during the nighttime hours and early morning hours. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
