High Wind Watch
Issued: 12:48 PM Dec. 26, 2025 – National Weather Service
...HIGH WIND WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH MONDAY AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Northeast winds 30 to 50 mph with gusts of 60 to 70 mph possible. * WHERE...The Matanuska Valley, including Palmer and Wasilla. * WHEN...From Saturday afternoon through Monday afternoon. * IMPACTS...High winds could move loose debris, damage property, and cause power outages. Travel could be difficult. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...There is growing confidence in another round of strong and damaging winds, with the strongest winds most likely Saturday night through Sunday. There is still some question in the track of key features which will affect the duration of winds. They could begin to diminish Sunday night or linger all the way through Monday. One to three inches of dry, powdery snow is expected across the Matanuska Valley today through tonight. As winds strengthen on Saturday, this will lead to blowing and drifting snow, likely reducing visibilities along area roads. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A high wind watch means there is potential for a hazardous high wind event. Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates on this situation. Fasten loose objects or shelter objects in a safe location prior to the onset of winds. &&
