...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM THIS MORNING TO 8 PM AKDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Temperatures 80 to 85 expected in areas away from the inner channels and outer coast. * WHERE...City of Hyder, Ketchikan Gateway Borough, and Prince of Wales Island. * WHEN...From 10 AM this morning to 8 PM AKDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Individuals not accustomed to these unusually hot temperatures for this region may experience heat related illnesses. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, and check up on elderly and vulnerable relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear sunscreen and light loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles under any circumstances as vehicle interiors can reach extreme temperatures in as little as 10 minutes. Close curtains during the daytime to reduce sun insulation into the home and open windows at night to allow the home to cool off. Utilize fans or community buildings with air conditioning. &&
