...COASTAL FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY MORNING THROUGH EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING... * WHAT...Water levels as high as 1.5 to 3.5 feet above the normal highest tide line. * WHERE...Along the Kuskokwim Delta Coast and Nunivak Island. * WHEN...Tuesday morning to early Wednesday morning, coinciding with high tides Tuesday morning and again late Tuesday night. * IMPACTS...Coastal flooding of low lying areas and erosion are possible. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Southerly to southwesterly winds begin increasing Monday night and persist through early Wednesday morning with gusts between 40 to 55 mph possible. Persistent southerly to southwesterly winds may lead to storm surge and flooding. The first high tide cycle and water level peak Tuesday morning will occur across Nunivak Island and Mekoryuk. The second high tide cycle and water level peak Tuesday night will occur along the Kuskokwim Bay Coast. In addition to the water level rises and strong gusty winds, wave heights within the coastal waters of the Kuskokwim Delta will build to 8 to 12 feet by Tuesday afternoon. Wave heights slowly subside beginning Wednesday morning. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A coastal flood watch means that conditions favorable for flooding are expected to develop. Coastal residents should be alert for later statements or warnings, and take action to protect property. &&
