Special Weather Statement
Issued: 9:52 PM Apr. 30, 2025 – National Weather Service
...Moderate to Heavy Precipitation Friday Evening through Saturday Night... A strong frontal system moving north off a low pressure system in the Gulf of Alaska will bring widespread wrap around precipitation across the Eastern Interior through Saturday night. Heavy rain/snow showers are expected to begin Friday morning at higher elevations, in the Fortymile Country, and White Mountains. Moderate rain showers are expected to reach Fairbanks Friday afternoon, transitioning to rain/snow mix overnight and into Saturday. Snow accumulations are expected to be 2-5 inches in the White Mountains and Fortymile Country above 1500 ft, with little to no accumulations for areas within the Interior Valleys. Total rain amounts will be between 0.1" to 0.25". Due to model variability, there is low confidence regarding the exact placement and timing of the highest precipitation amounts across the Eastern Interior. Locally higher amounts of rain up to 0.5" is possible for the Interior Valleys. Wet road conditions may become slippery at times. Exercise caution while driving.
