...HEAT ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM AKDT SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Hot temperatures as high as 85 to 90 expected.

* WHERE...Central Interior, Dalton Highway Summits, Upper Koyukuk
Valley, and Yukon Flats.

* WHEN...Until 10 PM AKDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Individuals not accustomed to these unusually hot
temperatures for this region may experience heat related illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids and check up on elderly and vulnerable
relatives and neighbors.

Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles
under any circumstances as vehicle interiors can reach extreme
temperatures in as little as 10 minutes.

Take extra precautions when working in the sun. Wear sunscreen and
lightweight, loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous
activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see
symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Close curtains during the daytime to reduce sun insolation into the
home and open windows at night to allow the home to cool off.
Utilize fans or community buildings with air conditioning.

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM SATURDAY TO 1 AM AKDT
SUNDAY...

The National Weather Service in Fairbanks has issued a Red Flag
Warning, which is in effect from 10 AM Saturday to 1 AM AKDT
Sunday.

* AFFECTED AREA...Upper Koyukuk Valley, Dalton Highway Summits
and Yukon Flats.

* TIMING...From 10 AM Saturday to 1 AM AKDT Sunday.

* WINDS...East 5 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

* HUMIDITY...As low as 21 percent.

* TEMPERATURES...Highs in the lower 90s. Lows in the upper 50s.

* IMPACTS...Rapid ignition, growth and spread of fires will be
possible. Hot, dry, and windy conditions may lead to rapid
spread of fires.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that conditions are occurring or will
occur which could lead to the development of large and dangerous
fires. It is directed toward fire agencies, and through them, to
the public.

Please advise the appropriate officials or fire crews in the
field of this Red Flag Warning.
