Special Weather Statement
Issued: 3:11 AM Dec. 27, 2025 – National Weather Service
...GUSTY WINDS EXPECTED LATE SATURDAY INTO MONDAY MORNING... Northerly winds are expected to gradually increase Saturday, primarily for the northwestern portions of Anchorage from JBER and Government Hill areas through downtown and all of west Anchorage. Strong, northeast winds could also affect communities west of the Glenn Highway, north of the Municipality. Peak winds are expected overnight Saturday and Sunday with sustained winds of 25 to 35 mph and wind gusts of 35 to 45 mph. There is a low possibility (10 to 30 percent chance) for the peak winds to be stronger. Winds should begin to gradually diminish Monday morning. With fresh dry snow on the ground, these winds could cause snow to drift and blow around, reducing visibility at times. Plan ahead and prepare by securing loose items, adjusting travel plans as necessary, and monitoring the forecast for any updates.
